A khimar set can be practical because the top and bottom garments are made to match. Still, sets differ greatly in fabric, length, fit and comfort. The best choice is therefore above all the set in which you can move comfortably and which suits the occasion you want to wear it for.

What is a khimar set?

A khimar is a loose-fitting head covering worn over the head that also covers part of the upper body. In a khimar set it is often combined with a matching abaya or skirt.

The exact length and shape differ per model. So always look at product photos, measurements and fabric information instead of just the size name.

1. Choose the right fabric first

The fabric largely determines how a set drapes and feels. Lighter materials are pleasant in warmer weather and for everyday use. Heavier or more structured fabrics can drape beautifully for special occasions, but feel different when worn for a long time.

A premium jersey khimar set, for example, feels different to wear than a Butterfly set in Medina silk.

2. Check the length and freedom of movement
