Wealth of knowledge and reverence surrounds the life of Imam Bukhari, one of Islam’s most celebrated scholars. His name resonates throughout the Islamic world primarily because of his monumental work, Sahih Bukhari—a compilation that serves as a cornerstone in the study of Hadith. Born in Bukhara, in present-day Uzbekistan, Imam Bukhari faced significant challenges early in life, including being blind at birth. As a polymath with a unique photographic memory, he was uniquely equipped to absorb and document an extensive body of Hadith—accounting for the sayings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad (S).
